Discover the Carnival celebrations and learn Spanish

The traditional ‘Carnavales’ celebrations are deeply-rooted in Spain: every year, Spaniards dress up in all manner of imaginative costumes, ranging from the very simple to the elaborate and extravagant.

The Carnavales are one of Spain’s most popular festivals, and although the biggest parties take place in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the Canary Islands and in Cadiz in the south, every single Spanish city celebrates in its own particular way. But much as the parties may vary, each one is full of parades, music, and fun.

This year’s Carnaval week is from Thursday 16th February until Tuesday 21st, the so-called ‘Carnaval Tuesday’. Why not take advantage of the party season and enjoy a really authentic Spanish experience? At Closeteachers, we think that this is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to learn Spanish in Spain and also enjoy all of the country’s traditions. The dual experience of studying Spanish whilst celebrating Carnival in your free time will help students to get to know Spanish culture in the most authentic way possible: by living it. It’s an interesting opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and to join in the party practicing the language with native speakers.

Just pick your costume and join in: ¡Viva el Carnival!
