The course for teachers of Spanish (ELE) February 2011 draws to a close

The intensive course for teachers of Spanish (ELE), which was offered during the mornings of February between the hours of 9 and 12 at Instituto Hemingway, has just finished. The 16 students have had the opportunity to practice several real-life teaching situations throughout the course and have been videotaped by the teacher to enable analysis and discussion of each situation. According to Maria Victoria, one of the students:“the experience of teaching your own language has not only been surprising, but also enriching. I enjoyed every exercise and have learnt that not everything is as easy as it sounds”.

Other comments can be read in the Instituto Hemingway´s blog, where students reflect upon their experience: what were the best aspects (and the worst!) and what they have learnt from these exercises.

Currently, students are working on their final report, preparing an entire teaching unit to be delivered before the end of March to conclude their course. They will then undertake fortnight-long paid internships and will finally receive a diploma that certifies that they are qualified to teach Spanish to foreigners. This will open new doors for them in the working world, as they will soon be capable of teaching a language that is rapidly growing in popularity in the world.
