If you find yourself interested in certificating your Spanish language skills and you are not a fan of DELE because it does not guarantee anything, now you can choose another type of certificate – SIELE. This diploma is also approved by Instituto Cervantes and you have two options when choosing the type of the exam. SIELE offers to the people interested in taking it two ways of certificating their level – the first one is a general exam and the second one allows the candidate to combine different parts of Spanish (reading, writing, speaking and understanding).
SIELE is realized on-line but this doesn’t mean you can do it from home. It’s necessary to come to a place certificated by Instituto Cervantes like center of examination for SIELE. Since you take the exam electronically, the results of it come quite fast, too. Usually you know it within three weeks.
There are three institutions responsible for the objectivity and relevance of the exam and they are: Instituto Cervantes, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and Universidad de Salamanca. They cooperate in creation and evaluation of the exams.
The exam itself is a bit different from the well-known DELE. When the candidate decides to take it without leaving any part it is quite similar to DELE and has four parts – reading (R), listening (L), speaking (S), writing (W). In case one decides to certificate himself in specific areas, there are few options: R+L, R+W, L+S or just Speaking. The complete test takes three hours with an extra fifteen-minute break after the listening part.
SIELE is destined to people who want to certificate the level of their Spanish language the fastest way possible since getting the results does not take so long as in case of DELE, for example. This type of certificate is brand new because the exams started this year. In case you are interested in learning more about the inscription, you can consult it on the web page.
Speaking of the main difference between SIELE and DELE, this could probably be the levels from which you can obtain the diploma. While with DELE you can take the exam in all of the levels according to CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) – A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2, but the SIELE exam doesn’t offer the option C2. Another important thing is the validity of these diplomas. Once you pass DELE, your certificate is valid permanently, but in case of SIELE that would be just two years – which is enough if what you need is just get some proof of your language skills to enter the university or a new job.
